The Asylum, Port Arthur Saturday 5 July 5:30pm
Join us for a memorable evening of live choral music inside one of the site’s most evocative spaces.
Founded in 2008,
Kompactus is a Canberra-based chamber choir of singers aged 18 to 30.
Led by conductor and composer Olivia Swift, the ensemble is known for
its expressive, genre-spanning performances—from early music to bold
contemporary works. Their programs often explore striking contrasts and
unexpected themes, with past repertoire including music about time,
nature, and even the curious habits of chickens.
With appearances
at major events such as the Canberra International Music Festival and
the National Folk Festival, Kompactus has built a strong reputation for
musical excellence, adventurous programming and the warmth and clarity
of their vocal blend.
Local favourites, the Tasman Peninsula Singers, will join Kompactus, adding a homegrown touch to this special night.
With fires
burning outside, food and drinks available for purchase, and the
resonant acoustics of The Asylum filling with song, this is a unique
opportunity to experience the power of choral music in one of Tasmania’s
most atmospheric heritage buildings.
For anyone wishing to visit the Port Arthur Historic Site before
